Sarvnayak Raj Comics Pdf 29 Sarvnayak Raj is an Indian comic book author and illustrator. He has also created advertisements, logos, and titles for films and television serials. His comics are about the common man’s day-to-day problems; Kaal Tootiya (The Great Famine), Saat Varshe (One Second Everyday) and Ashvin Bahr (Every Morning) are some of his most popular works. Sarvnayak Comic Bazaar is a pioneering event in India for the promotion of comic books. Sarvnayak Raj was born into a middle-class family from Bandra, Mumbai, India. His father was a businessman and his mother a housewife. He is the eldest of two brothers and one sister. In school he used to draw stories, do caricatures and play the guitar. By the age of 9, he had already started drawing comics in school notebooks. He went on to become a B.Com student from Mumbai University and graduated with a degree in Computer Sciences from Sri Ram College of Commerce at Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He started his career in advertising with the India Book House in Chennai in 1982. He was later employed by an ad agency called Triton Communications in 1987. He was responsible for creating many ads for various companies. Sarvnayak's reputation as a designer/illustrator grew when he started working with the TV serial called "Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai" (When Two People Fall in Love). He has created more than 400 cartoons for different newspapers including The Pioneer, The Economic Times and Sunday Mid-Day. Sarvnayak’s first comic book was "Kaal Tootiya" ("The Great Famine"), which he worked on while he was still in school. It was about the problems caused by the 1974 famine in India. Sarvnayak says, "Poverty has always been an inspiration for my work." He created his second comic, "Saat Varshe" ("One Second Everyday"), to draw attention to what he saw as India’s social apathy. The comic uses one second of an average day to make a satirical comment on Indian society. The first 10 editions were published in English, but he says he is now working on an edition in Hindi. Sarvnayak Raj’s first comic book called "Kaal Tootiya" ("The Great Famine") was published in 1977. The story is about the problems created by the 1974 famine in India.
